When you get out of your car in sunny Proveis (1,420 m), the first thing you'll hear is - nothing. A refreshing stillness is in the air around the wonderfully situated small village, which crowds around the neo-Gothic parish church St. Nikolaus. Cosy inns, four dozen farmhouses and just about 70 guest beds are waiting for you; paradisiacal conditions, then, for people looking for recuperation, who while on extended hikes may feel like they're in a good old country movie.


The view is also phenomenal from Proveis: the low mountain range of close-by Trentino spreads out in front of you, and behind the mountain peaks you can just imagine Lake Garda.

Proveis, once the site of a famous lace making school and once always very hard to get to over the Gampen pass or Mendel pass is now only a 20-minute drive away from the Ultental valley due to the construction of the brand-new Hofmahd road: just turn off left just before you get to St. Walburg!
