If you can't be happy here, it's your own fault...

Is there a more fitting destination for the vacationer than one over which St. Christopher, the patron saint of travellers, is holding his hand? The mountain village St. Felix (1,265 m) has this good fortune - and it's been that way since hundreds of years ago when an old pass trail led past here. Today travelling there is easy: take the new Gampen road, turn off and find yourself on a protected high plateau spoiled by the sun.

In the middle of uniquely beautiful alpine flora with magnificent larch forests, you'll discover the Felix pond (Tretsee), hike to the Felix waterfall and visit the remote old church, which is consecrated in the name of St. Christopher. One isn't certain just how old it is, but as early as 1476 it was described as "a holy shrine with a long history". Above St. Felix (e.g. from Schönegg or Gandkofel) you can then enjoy a spectacular view down into the Etschtal valley and all the way to the snow-covered peaks of the Dolomites.

After all the excursions and hikes, stopping at an inn will be a joyful change of pace, where besides a hearty meal you can also enjoy culinary delicacies and of course a lovely glass of red wine. Not to mention the delicious "radish days" in late summer!
