Traditions, mountains, farmer's bacon

St. Walburg (1,190 m), the second village in the Ultental, is the starting point for your very personal programme to spoil yourself: whether it's walks through the forest and valley, or a casual lunch with bacon, bread and wine in one of the alpine pastures, St. Walburg offers wonderful (holiday) prospects! But have you seen the church here anywhere?

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm).

It's hidden on a hill at a distance from the village. It was built in the 14th century and was expanded and renovated several times. The cemetery spreads around the church in terraces. Because this meant that there wasn't much room for additional structures, St. Walburg expanded down towards the valley - a typical scattered settlement with many interested wooden structures. In the 1950s, however, some of the most beautiful farms had given way to the new Zoggler reservoir lake, which today borders the village with sparkling in shades of dark green.

At the end of the lake you'll discover the Kuppelwies Inn and St. Moritz (Gothic hillside church at 1,640 m) one of the oldest inns and probably the oldest church in the valley. At one time the pilgrims passed by here coming from Vinschgau on their way to Rome.
