San Felice/St. Felix - vacations on a sunny plateau

The mountain village of San Felice/St. Felix (1,265 m) is located on a century-old mountain pass. Today it is quite easy to reach on a newly built road, and marvelously located on a high, sheltered and sunny plateau.

Originally the name of the place was called “Caseid”, it received its current name in the 18th century parallel to the construction of the gothic village church that was remodeled later in the Baroque style.

In the midst of pristine scenery and stunning larch trees you will find Lago di Tret/Felixer Weiher, a natural biotope. From there you can hike to the waterfall or visit San Cristoforo/St. Christophorus church. No-one knows exactly how old the church is, however it was mentioned to be a “long-existing sanctuary” as early as in 1476 AD. From the nearby peaks such as Schönegg or Gandkofel you will be able to enjoy unbelievable views of Val d’Adige/Etschtal and the mighty Dolomites peaks.

The scattered farms that are typical for Tyrolean settlement are a stark contrast to the densly packed courtyards of the settlements in the neighboring villages of Trentino, such as in Tret or Fondo.

In the area around San Felice/St. Felix, the sheer force of water has turned rocks into canyons, making it a great location for canyoning tours offered by many different providers.
