Piste safety in Val d'Ultimo/Ultental
The White Cross has been responsible for the piste rescue service for many, many years.
They are aptly supported by the local police force, combining their efforts in order to get injured skiers to a safe place as soon as possible and to provide medical assistance.
All members of the rescue team work for the ambulance and are professionally educated with regard to their jobs.
They are trained in a variety of key duties such as:
- Helicopter rescue missions
- Legal aspects of the rescue service
- Collaboration with authorities
- Motor sled handling and technical aspects
- Correct use of rescue sled
- Piste safety
- First aid on the piste
- Avalanche rescue missions
- Safe skiing (under professional guidance)
