Val d'Ultimo/Ultental

The 40 km long Val d'Ultimo/Ultental to the South of Merano/Meran is one of South Tyrol’s most pristine, traditional valleys. The four main locations of San Pancrazio/St. Pankraz, Santa Valburga/St. Walburg, San Nicolò/St. Nikolaus and Santa Gertrude/St. Gertraud are testimony to the beautiful, century-old architecture in the valley. Many mountain and valley lakes are testimony to the region’s wealth of water resources. Discover rich, romantic forests, rustic Alpine huts and impressive, spectacular summits in this pristine valley.

Part of the valley of Val d'Ultimo/Ultental is the Passo dello Stelvio/Stilfserjoch National Park – an area created in order to protect the rich local nature and animals.

The largest Alpine resort in the valley is Schwemmalm, a most popular hiking resort in summer and a paradise for Alpine & cross-country ski lovers in winter.
